Mining
Keep Every Mining Operation Safer, More Visible, and More Productive
Mining moves faster when people, vehicles, systems, and sites stay continuously connected. From open-pit haul roads and remote field assets to underground coordination and control rooms, reliable connectivity helps mining operators improve safety, reduce downtime, strengthen traceability, and control infrastructure costs across challenging environments.
Behind every safer shift, better ton yield, and more traceable operation is reliable connectivity.
Mining environments are more demanding than typical enterprise sites. Connectivity must support safety-critical operations, mobile equipment, asset visibility, and real-time coordination across vast, rugged, and constantly changing environments.
Mining sites often stretch across open-pit zones, haul roads, processing plants, stockyards, rail corridors, workshops, camps, and underground tunnels. Each area has different coverage, mobility, and deployment requirements.
Dust, vibration, moisture, temperature extremes, uneven terrain, and blasting conditions can make network deployment and performance far more difficult than in conventional environments.
Haul trucks, service vehicles, drilling equipment, rail systems, and field teams need uninterrupted connectivity while moving throughout the site. Reliable roaming is essential to support communications, monitoring, automation, and remote-operated workflows.
Mining operations depend on always-on coordination. Connectivity gaps can affect worker safety, slow response times, reduce asset visibility, interrupt production workflows, and increase operational costs.
The Altai Smart Mining Platform
Altai helps mining operators build a connectivity foundation that supports safer operations, lower deployment costs, stronger traceability, and more efficient performance across open-pit, underground, and remote mining environments.
Altai Super WiFi™
Altai Super WiFi™ is designed for large and demanding mining environments where conventional enterprise Wi-Fi may struggle. With long-range coverage and strong performance in challenging outdoor and industrial conditions, Altai helps mining operators extend reliable wireless connectivity across wide site areas while reducing infrastructure complexity.
Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) for Moving and Remote-Driven Mining Vehicles
For mining operations that rely on moving equipment and connected vehicles, Altai Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) helps maintain stable connectivity for remote driving, dispatch coordination, vehicle communications, and mobile operational workflows.
Mesh and Wireless Backhaul
For mining environments where fiber is unavailable, impractical, or too costly to extend, Altai supports flexible wireless architectures that help operators connect remote zones faster and more cost-effectively.
Altai Smart Solar Stations
For mining operations where remote sites may not have stable utility power, Altai Smart Solar Stations provide integrated power, connectivity, and remote management to help operators extend network access into remote pits, haul routes, monitoring points, and other off-grid mining locations.
Enterprise and Industrial Switching
Altai’s switching portfolio extends connectivity from the network core to the operational edge, helping mining operators build a unified, scalable, and reliable infrastructure across processing facilities, workshops, command centers, underground areas, and remote site operations.
Centralized Network Management
Altai offers centralized visibility and control across wireless and wired infrastructure through both cloud-based management and hardware controller-based management. This helps mining operators simplify operations, improve network visibility, and maintain service performance more efficiently across distributed sites.
Why Mining Operators Choose Altai
Reliable connectivity helps support worker communications, underground coordination, emergency response, vehicle monitoring, and safety visibility across high-risk operating environments.
Long-range coverage, flexible deployment, and support for off-grid environments help reduce the number of network nodes, installation complexity, maintenance effort, and overall lifecycle cost.
Altai helps mining operators improve traceability across vehicles, field assets, mobile crews, sensors, and site activities with better visibility into what is happening, where, and when.
Altai supports the connectivity mining companies need for safer operations, better coordination, higher uptime, improved efficiency, and future digital expansion.
Mining Mission-Critical Connectivity Use Case
Haul trucks and mobile equipment operating deep in the pit regularly pass through RF blind spots created by benches and terrain. Vehicle-mounted CPE terminals use Altai CPE Failover Relay to maintain connectivity automatically when the primary link to a remote access point is temporarily lost.
- If a vehicle-mounted CPE loses its primary connection to a remote access point while moving through a blind spot, it automatically scans for and connects to the nearest healthy neighboring CPE.
- The borrowed connection is limited to a single hop, keeping latency low and preventing the network from daisy-chaining through multiple vehicles.
- As soon as the CPE detects its primary access point again, it automatically reconnects and drops the relay link, restoring the standard connection without manual intervention.
