Revolutionizes the search and rescue operations of HKPF to save lives
Hong Kong, Jan 24, 2024 – Altai Technologies (Altai), a global leader in industrial-grade Wi-Fi solutions, is proud to announce the official launch of the HKSOS app developed by the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) and Signal Radar, co-developed by Altai and HKPF. This collaboration introduces the world’s first search and rescue solution, leveraging on Altai’s innovative patented technologies.
Signal Radar enables rescue personnel to accurately detect the location of a distressed individual’s mobile phone HKSOS app from a remote distance regardless of whether it has cellular signal reception or not. This groundbreaking solution enhances search and rescue operations, saving precious time and life and improving the safety of the Hong Kong community.
During the HKSOS App Launching Ceremony held on Jan 20, 2024, Raymond Siu Chak-yee, Commissioner of Police of the HKPF, emphasized the importance of the App and Signal Radar in addressing the rising number of search and rescue cases in country parks. Altai’s solar-powered Signal Radar Ground Station was also installed at key locations, such as the High Island Reservoir entrance and Cheung Sheung Campsite. These installations enable seamless communication and efficient transmission of distress signals for search and rescue operation. Additional Signal Radar Ground Stations will be deployed in strategic locations, expanding coverage and accessibility for individuals in need.
