Altai @ Mobile World Congress 2011 Barcelona

Altai’s participation at the Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona has been a great success. Altai highlighted its brand-new all-in-one A8-i Super WiFi Base Station for 360- degree coverage during the show. The visitors showed tremendous interest in this product and were amazed by the high performance and compact design of the A8-i. Many thought it was a good solution for deployment scenarios that have very limited installation site space. The newly-launched A8-i helps Altai further solidify its position in the market. Altai also demonstrated its comprehensive line of Super WiFi equipment at the Mobile World Congress and the overall feedback was very positive. Altai will continue its participation in the Mobile World Congress in the future due to the excellent platform this show provides to showcase Altai’s products.

Dekal Wireless Deploys Altai Technologies for the World's First Island-Wide SuperWiFi Network

Dekal Wireless and Altai Technologies are proud to announce the completion of the world's first SuperWiFi broadband network with nationwide coverage in Jamaica. Dekal Wireless is an early adopter of Altai's Super WiFi wireless technology, its SuperWiFi network provides broadband speed between 4 Mbs to 10 Mbs for each user using Altai's Super WiFi equipment. The SuperWiFi service is available in over 30 towns and cities in Jamaica and is a fully integrated network providing roaming ability - one account, access anywhere on the network.

On March 1, 2011, Dekal Wireless with the assistance of Altai Technologies, completed phase 2 coverage bringing the final portion of Jamaica online. The network will serve over 1 million residents and provide internet to Jamaicans with limited or no internet access. The first phase of its network in 9 towns of Jamaica was launched in July 2010.

Altai's Super WiFi technology requires significantly fewer units per square mile of coverage and allows much higher data transmission speed and larger user capacity at range than conventional WiFi products.

Jamaica is the largest English speaking island in the Caribbean and the third largest in the region. With a total land area of 4,442 square miles (10,991 sq. km.), the island is 146 miles long with widths varying between 22 and 51 miles (35 and 82km). Jamaica's population is approximately 2.7 million.

Altai Technologies Unveils All-in-One Integrated A8-i Super WiFi Base Station

Riding on A8's patented long range wireless technology, Altai Technologies today announces it will officially unveil its carrier grade A8-i Super WiFi Base Station at the 2011 GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain (Feb 14-17).

Being the latest addition to its product portfolio of Super WiFi Solutions, the A8-i is an all-in-one multi-beam antenna array super WiFi base station that integrates the base unit and antennas into one housing. Utilizing smart antenna technologies and patented signal processing algorithms, the all-in-one A8-i provides the industry's best 360? signal coverage per base station and eliminates the RF cabling. Equipped with multiple antennas in a single enclosure, the A8-i provides up to 3 times the range and 10 times the per site coverage as traditional access points.

The compact design of the A8-i is well-suited for various site conditions in outdoor and indoor areas. It enables 3G/WiMax operators to quickly expand their data network capacity at much lower acquisition and operating costs by co-locating with their existing 3G/WiMax cell sites. The A8-i helps service operators generate immediate revenue and turn their WiMax networks into cash cows. It offers telecom operators and wireless internet service providers a cost-effective, easy-to-install high performance wireless broadband solution.

Deployment Tips
C1 Weatherproofing for Outdoor Installation

Since the C1 is IP55 rated, extra caution must be exercised for outdoor installation. We recommend following the weatherproof procedures described below for preventing water leakage. Note that both the bottom quarter of the unit and the Ethernet cable should be wrapped.

    1. Start wrapping a layer of rubber tape from 5 cm below the Ethernet connector. Overlap the tape to half-width. Finish the wrap just below the Ethernet connector.

    1. Start wrapping a layer of rubber tape from 1 cm above of the lid of the Ethernet cable compartment, and continue towards the bottom of the unit. Overlap the tape to half-width. Take extra care to make sure that the bottom of the unit is completely covered by rubber tape.
